3/27/2009, 12 – 7 PM, Community Association Living Study Council meeting, Miami Beach City Hall, 1700 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, Florida 33139. Public Input appreciated — most likely afternoon! More info to come when available! MAKE A NOTE IN YOUR CALENDAR! Donations made to us through Network for Good last month have FINALLY reached us. This would not have been in enough time to let us get the ad we had wanted to put into the flyer at Festival Flea Market (nor did we collect ENOUGH money), but what we have collected will certainly help with operating expenses. Our ads in the Orange Gazette and in Senior News have proven to be effective and we are still paying the bills for those. We also used a lot of paper and ink to print up our brochures which will go in the attendee packages at the No Kill Advocacy Conference ( ). We also have some annual fees coming up that must go to the state of Florida.

Go to, for information on how to donate.

Our ad is in the latest No Kill Advocacy e-bulletin: on page 11. The ad has David Shapiro’s phone number that used to be on our ads.

According to Animal Legal and Historical Center, 39 states (including Florida) have enacted Companion Animal (Pet) Trust Laws. Read more about pet trust law and find a link to a sample pet trust document in our legal information section Contact an estate and tax planning lawyer, eg. Locksley A. Rhoden, ESQ, in Hallandale, FL, for more information. Another resource brought to our attention by Florida Pets Network is the Pet Trust Law Blog by Danny E. Meek Esq of Naples, FL.

Please contact your Florida state lawmakers and ask for their support of Senate Bill 2316 and House Bill 1215. Tell them that Florida greyhounds deserve the same basic protections that dogs receive in other states, and that it is important that state officials have the power to inspect greyhound kennels.
